Conservation and Youth

L.I.B. supports the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation in many ways. LIB takes part in many Belmont and Hempstead Lake spring and fall events, works with SASI, the Lake Ronkonkoma stocking of Largemouth Bass, and participates in the Lake Ronkonkoma Task Force. LIB also works with PLECO weed pull and hosts an annual Father's Day "Take a kid fishing Tournament". LIB has also participated in various charity organizations, hosting events like the Earl Glasshagel charity event, which raises money for the Make A Wish organization, and the Department of Environmental Conservation summer camp. Long Island Bassmasters is dedicated to conserving natural resources and improving bass habitat. In the 2002/2003 year, LIB enlisted the help of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, the Army National Guard and others, placing over 150 sumps into Lake Ronkonkoma.
