tournament talk 2017

  Tom Jermyn VP LIB

Well guys we are 3 tournaments in to our 2017 season and close to our Long Island double header if you will at Blydenburg
on Saturday 6/3 and the always difficult Lake Ronkonkoma the next day. Good luck to all who participated.

The first Qualifier was an electric boat tourney on Squantz Pond. Squantz fished very well this year with a few big bags brought to the table. Rookie Kyle Jermyn surprised the field with a 15 + lb bag on opening day.  Bennette Kudder won lunker with a 4.12 lb largemouth which at the time was his personal best, but not for long.

Jay Sticklickas took second 12.97 and another LIB Rookie Denis Karachopan was close behind with 12.89.   Danny, Ed and Billy also had bags not far behind, like I said Squantz fished well!

Highland lake was our second qualifier and I wish I could say it fished as good as Squantz but it wasn't even close.

Congrats to Chris Weber who was the only one who to figure them out.

Chris won Highland with 8.26 lb. Dan McGarry took second with 6.35 and Pete Byrnes third with 3.56.

Lillinonah was our third qualifier and if we thought Highland was tough, it was nothing compared to Lilly.   George Kowalinski was the only angler to fill a limit which gave him a First-place finish with a little over 5lbs. Bennette took second with 2 fish and another lunker over 4 lbs. unfortunately for him his smaller fish was dead and with penalty he came up a little short of a win. Big Dan Healy was happy to cash a check with his second first place rider win with 3 fish out weighing his sons 4 fish by 1/100th of a pound.  Lilly was definitely a grind this year.

Looking forward to remaining tournaments, see you out there.
